Unknown persons always come and go to Chapel road ...
to see ... it's an "Awa-Giya" style brothel
Chapel road is situated in the midst of Nugegoda town where several houses are to be seen. However, house owners in the neighbourhood had suspected happenings down this road because it had become a location where unidentified persons have been seen loitering about the place, and on checking up it was found that all these persons had been frequenting a certain 2-storied house and that they stay there for about an hour or so and then after that they leave the house. Neighbours have observed how the supposed owner of the house had been bringing beautiful girls there from time to time.
It was after that the police had been alerted that some sort of illegal activities were taking place in this house. Roshan Rajapaksha, SI of Mirihana police armed himself with a court warrant in this manner to search the house. He then proceeded to surround the house situated down Chapel road which had been subjected to suspicion, together with a team of police officers last Wednesday.
There were three-wheelers and other vehicles parked near the said house and it did not take much time for the police to understand that the place was nothing but a brothel. The police were able to trap 3 females who were in the company of customers inside the house and also the wife of the manager. It was revealed to the police that that the arrested 3 beauties were residents of Kadawatha, Wattala and Moratuwa.
The owner of the house together with his wife have been using this house only for the purpose of providing rooms for a specified time-period. The manager-husband had been bringing registered women to the house at a pre-arranged time given to the customer once the order had been placed by the latter and once the transaction is completely over between both parties, the prostitute concerned is provided transport to go back and no lodging is provided to any of them.
Whenever there is no transaction taking place, the house remains closed. It was revealed on investigations that because of this spontaneous type of modus operandi that operates at this place, they had been successful in running the brothel for a period of time, avoiding the long arm of the law.
The police later managed to get at the manager who was not available at the moment the raid was conducted. Police inquiries are continuing.
