SEETHA KUMARIHAMI PASSES AWAY

Mrs.Seetha Kumarihamy Ehelepola, popular cinema and teledrama actress artiste passed away yesterday (6) at Kalubowila hospital.

     Seetha who had won the hearts of the viewers for having played the role of mother or grandmother in teledramas in recent times was of the age of 73 years.

     She was born on May 8, 1940 and embarked on her acting career with Aadarayai karunawai in the year 1968. She then acted in 43 films including Kanyavi, Tharanaya, Akkara paha, Des nisa, Wathsala akka, Mahagedera, Duwata mawak nisa and Singhaawalokanaya.

    She is an old stage actress who had won a number of awards such as the President's Award, Critics' Award, Sarasavi Award as well as tele awards.

    It is reported that her final rites are to be performed in Panadura and the dates etc, would be informed in due course.
