MARBLE BEACH DOUBLE MURDER

Corporal shoots bride-to-be receptionist airwoman ......
in the company of her secret lover!

     An incident was reported where an Air Force Corporal has shot dead another Airman and then shot himself last Sunday afternoon at Marble Beach in China Bay. The deceased airwoman was an attractive Reception Officer aged 22 years; Chamodi Madushika Prematilleka by name.

   It is now reported that this is another finale of an unfortunate issue of a triangle of love. Ishan Priyadarshana the Air Force Corporal, it is said, was to get married to Chamodi next month.

  Having shot himself, he is now admitted to the general hospital of Trincomalee and hospital sources said that his condition is serious.

  The shooting took place at the holiday resort maintained by Air Force at Marble Beach in China Bay.

  Corporal Ishan had been following a course of studies at the China Bay Air Force base. He had had a romantic affair for some time with the deceased airwoman. She had been working at the Holiday Resort at Marble Beach in China Bay as a Receptionist. This shooting had taken place because Ishan had come to know that a clandestine love affair had been going on between Chamodi and another airman attached to this same Holiday Resort. Eye witnesses say that the Corporal had come to the place where his lover was working on Sunday afternoon and after seeing her in the company of the secret lover had then gone and grabbed a weapon from an Air Force soldier who was there and had shot his lover and the airman concerned; subsequent to which he had shot himself. At the moment of this incident there had been a large number of tourists at Marble Beach/

   The airwoman and the airman had died on the spot while the Corporal who shot himself after that, according to Keenya Hospital sources had been admitted to the Base Hospital and Keeniya Hospital in a serious condition and later transferred to the general hospital in Trincomalee. The deceased in this connection is leading airwoman Chamodi Prematillaka and leading airman Shanaka Kamal Bandara. Chamodi is the eldest daughter in a family of 3 children and she has 1 brother who is still attending school and 1 sister.

  Investigations have revealed that the shooting had been done by Chamodi's lover who was to get married to her. He is a resident of Karandeniya, Galle. The airwoman is a resident of Crowdesland, Rambukpitiya, Nawalapitiya and it is reported that she has served a period of about one and a half years with Air Force.

  Nadeera Sanjana, brother of Chamodi, studying for his A/Ls has this to say about this incident: "My elder sister was to get married next month and the wedding ring also had been made. We can't even think of what happened. She studied at Nawalapitiya, Andrew Balika Vidyalaya. She did Bio-Science for her A/Ls. Our father also served the Air Force in the infantry regiment. Therefore, elder sister too liked to join the Air Force. So she joined the Air Force. She worked there with much joy. She then got friendly with a boy from Galle who too worked in the Air Force and she was to marry him. That boy called Ishan Priyadarshana used to visit our home. Their wedding was to take place next month ... even the wedding rings were made.

  Elder sister came home last week .... but didn't say anything about any problem. We came to know that elder sister died after being shot by the boy who she was to marry. Even we can't think of this incident.

 A similar incident to that of Chamodi's death had taken place about one and a half years ago in Semrok along the Dolosbage road in Nawalapitiya. She too was an airwoman and she too died as a result of being shot by an airman who was her lover and was to get married to her.
