SLC INQUIRY WILL BE CONDUCTED ON RAMITH'S INCIDENT

Disciplinary inquiry into Minister's son .......
for trying to open aircraft-door

Though foreign reports declined to reveal the name of the Sri Lankan cricketer who was drunk and had tried to open the door of an aircraft belonging to British Airways thinking that it was the toilet-door when the flight had reached an altitude of 35,000 feet had thus created pandemonium among passengers. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has said that this was done by a Sri Lankan cricketer of the 'A' team Ramith Rambukwella, on a press release issued on 2nd July, 2013. He is the son of Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.

The media release says that because of this incident the image of both Sri Lanka and reputation Sri Lanka has in the field of cricket has been tarnished and that an inquiry would be held in this connection. As mentioned therein, Manager Jayantha Seneviratna who travelled with the Sri Lanka 'A' team who was in the aircraft has forwarded a report as a response to the enquiry of the Chief Executive of SL cricket regarding this incident.

In that report Mr.Seneviratna has said that at the time that flight was in operation, Ramith Rambukwella has gone to the cabin door by mistaking it for the toilet. When he was trying to open the door, passengers have drawn his attention to the fact that it was the wrong door and that the toilet is on the other side. At that point the Sri Lankan players had approached him and had directed him where to go. Ramith who accepted this had apologised to the passengers and the aircraft staff and had proceeded to the toilet.

Based on this report the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has decided to hold an inquiry in relation to the said player and the press release further says that if a fault of the player is revealed, they are prepared to take disciplinary action.
