Fine imposed on lady driver driving at 204 km.p.h. on Southern HighwayA fine has been imposed on a lady driver who was driving at 204 km.p.h. on the Southern Highway.
She had taken a time of only 20 minutes to cover the stretch from Kottawa to Pinnaduwa in Galle. Though the speed limit on the Southern Highway was 100 km.p.h. she had driven the vehicle beyond the set limit. Therefore, a fine was imposed on her at the Pinnaduwa stop according to evidence recorded on the cameras installed on the Highway with the vehicle being driven at a speed of 204 km.p.h.
When inquired further, it was revealed that she is a Sri Lankan lady lady who was a permanent resident of Australia. On being questioned by the police, she had mentioned that since she was used to driving the vehicle at such a speed on highways in Australia, she had done so here in Sri Lanka too.
