The story of killing the lover and raping a girl
Russian girl Victoria exposes story to a British newspaper
The incident where a foreigner was shot dead and his lover a Russian national was collectively raped at the Nature Resort Hotel in Tangalla was reported on Christmas night in the year 2011. The foreigner who died was 32 year-old Kuram Sheik, an officer attached to the Red Cross. Victoria Kuchecha an attractive 24 year-old Language teacher was a Russian national. Victoria who was suffering from shock for sometime after the incident was unable to bring back memories of the incident for a period of time. The Chairman of the Tangalla Provincial Council and others who were taken into custody on suspicion had later been released due to lack of evidence.
But now having been able to put together bits and pieces of her past memory of the incident, she had supplied information about it to the Sunday Times newspaper when she went to Britain last week.
Though there is no evidence, Victoria who relates the incident in proper sequence now says that the injustice done to her is not even understood by the judiciary.Various forms of information began to circulate those days regarding the incident. One such piece of news was that there was an uproar that night at the hotel over an issue of drunkenness and the deceased Kuram Sheik had intervened in the matter that arose among the PC Chairman and his crowd which ended up with the murder. Later it was reported that he had lost his temper because his Russian lover was being cast remarks and he had got involved in the affray. Consequently the conflict which had arisen had ended with the foreigner being shot dead. The incident which flared up at about 3 in the morning at Tangalla Nature Resort Hotel resulted in the Russian national suffering serious injuries and was in a serious condition with injuries to her brain as well. It was under such circumstances that she had given statements which were not sufficient to establish the true state of affairs regarding the incident during that period because she had forgotten most things. Talking to the Sunday Times Victoria had stated that she met her lover at a project in South Korea and that after choosing Sri Lanka had come to spend the Christmas here. She further said that she had a misunderstanding with her lover that Christmas night and was sitting alone near the beach. A Sri Lankan youth had then approached her and asked," Are you having any problem?" and had tried to get close to her. Trying to escape from him she had run towards the hotel when the clique of associates who were with him had pushed her and she had fallen near the swimming pool nearby. Later they had pushed her into the swimming pool and when she was getting out of the pool shouting "Help me!" she had noticed her lover sprawled across the floor there with injuries.
Whatever it is, Victoria who fainted at that moment, on regaining consciousness had found herself on a bed in hospital. She had at that moment realised that she was wearing a blood-stained T-shirt with wounds all over her body.
According to police reports, it was stated that Victoria had been found during the early hours of the morning on the following day nude and unconscious in a room in a hotel. It was also found that the private parts of her body contained injuries and that she had been collectively raped.
Though the former Chairman of the Tangalla PC Sampath Pushpa Vidanapathirana and 8 others were arrested on suspicion, they were later released on the grounds that there was no relevant evidence available in relation to the murder. The police is still awaiting the DNA report to identify those who raped Victoria even after 1 year but she had been notified last month that the report was not forthcoming all of which she had divulged to the British newspaper.
