Supposed to have got close to the daughter during the rain as mother was not there
On a complaint lodged by the mother of a 12 year old girl for having fondled her and for sexually molesting her the suspect presented himself to the police yesterday after hiding for a number of days and was produced in courts today. The suspect is Saman Padmasiri, a member of both the UC of Maharagama and the government party. The mother of the girl happens to be the paramour of the suspect. The woman concerned lived in a house in Aturugiriya. Her legal husband has left her and the child about 3 years back and had been living alone. The UC member had been coming to the house of this woman on and off and had even put up the nights there thus carrying on the illicit affair.
Last 25th, when this incident took place, the girl's mother had not been at home. She had gone on a business matter and because of heavy rain had remained back till the rain ceased. The UC member on entering the house had noticed that only the girl was alone in the house. As the 'manthri uncle' was not a stranger to her she had left the door open. But on noticing the strange look on his eyes, she had got into a sort of shock.
'Manthri uncle' had got close to the girl and had begun to fondle her at which at which moment she had shouted "Don't, don't". But because of the noise of the rain, nobody had heard this. Though she had tried to free herself, it had been to no avail. He had even removed the telephone wires before fleeing after appeasing his vulgar desires. He had threatened the girl not to divulge anything of this to her mother. The girl who had sustained bruises had run to a nearby house in a serious condition and phoned her mother relating everything which happened.
The mother who promptly came home had admitted her to the Homagama Hospital and then complained to Maharagama Police abou this paramour's degrading act. When the incident was written in the police books the UC member Saman Padmasiri Senadheera was the culprit in the incident, he had already disappeared from all possible places where he could be found. It was after that that a team of special policemen launched an investigation.
It was later revealed that President Rajapaksa too was informed about the UC member and that he had given instructions to Mr.Maithripala Sirisena, Gen. Secretary of the SLFP to mete out the necessary punishment to him and to dispel him from the Party membership. The UC member Saman Padmasiri Senadheera who was absconding from last 25th had presented himself to the Aturugiriya Police yesterday (31) through a lawyer after a lapse of 6 days.
He was a resident of Embuldeniya and a married man too. He had admitted to the police that he maintained an illicit affair with the woman living in Walgama, Aturugiriya and that on that day as the mother was not in the house, it being a heavy rainy day he had approached the daughter and committed a sexual assault on her.
