What stage performances? Limini is at home looking after the children.. I'm the one supporting them.

Mr. Tilak Weerasinghe, a renowned businessman, Chairman of the LSR Group of Companies, and father of Limini Rajapaksa, wife of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, states that the circulating news about Limini Rajapaksa entering active politics and preparing for the upcoming presidential candidacy is completely baseless. 

Clarifying reports circulating on social media that Limini Rajapaksa will participate as an organizer or speaker in a special political rally to be held in Anuradhapura under the patronage of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, he points out that no such decision or discussion has taken place within the family.

He further emphasizes that given the current political climate and legal circumstances, it is absolutely unsuitable for his daughter to appear on political platforms at such a time, and he views it as a politically unwise act.

Mr. Tilak Weerasinghe states that at a time when his son-in-law, Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, is facing a challenging and difficult situation in the current political environment, Limini Rajapaksa's primary responsibility and duty is to complete the affairs of her two young children and maintain family stability, rather than entering political platforms. He accuses that reports of her participation in the rally scheduled for September 12th in Anuradhapura are a collection of false news systematically spread by certain individuals. He points out that although there is a perception that the Rajapaksa family generally does not give certain positions to outsiders, there is no preparation to call Limini Rajapaksa into active politics either at the request of Mr. Namal Rajapaksa or under the influence of any other party.

Mr. Namal Rajapaksa and Mrs. Limini Rajapaksa live with their two children in Mr. Tilak Weerasinghe's house on Negris Road, Colombo. Mr. Weerasinghe states that he bears all daily expenses of the family, including maintenance, food and beverages, and the children's educational expenses, from his personal funds. He also states that no political discussions or propaganda activities take place inside the house, and that Mr. Namal Rajapaksa leads a very simple family life after returning home. He adds that although this kinship with the Rajapaksa family has led to various accusations against him and his businesses, he has no regrets about this marriage, which took place in 2015 when the Rajapaksas were out of power, as it was based on the children's consent.

People call the Rajapaksas thieves. Limini's father is also a thief. So, this aspect affects Limini too. Aren't you ashamed? You actually listen to such talk.

Chamuditha, a marriage cannot be done in a day. Decisions need to be made for that. It's a decision made by two families together. It wasn't a political decision; it was a family decision. And I've known Namal not just now. I've known Namal for many, many years. He's not like that; he's a good child who doesn't gossip and doesn't drink...

Aren't the attacks he's made on the bus enough? Oh, Chamuditha, these things have their origins. Where did this bus deal come from? The initial invitations and the people who did those things have gone and entangled it, Chamuditha. Can anyone say that eight hundred thousand dollars were brought and left on the table? Nimal Perera says...? So, Chamuditha, how can eight hundred thousand dollars be brought? In a bag? At least, you'd have to carry a suitcase on your head. How many lakhs out of Namal's eight hundred thousand dollars have been invested in your business? Not a single cent. I'm saying that if they really took it or gave it, then whoever took it is wrong, and whoever gave it is also wrong.

Mr. Tilak Weerasinghe states that the accusations of laundering Namal Rajapaksa's black money through his wholly-owned LSR company are baseless and are false propaganda distorting true information. He clarifies that he started leading businesses in the country's tourism sector even before Namal Rajapaksa was born, and that Namal Rajapaksa holds no directorship, share ownership, or business partnership in the LSR institution. Commenting on the inclusion of several hotel premises belonging to the LSR company in the asset declarations submitted to Parliament, he states that there are properties legally allocated by him, half each, to be transferred to his daughter and son in the future, and that these properties are recorded because, according to existing state law, a Member of Parliament must declare his wife's assets.

Mr. Weerasinghe states that the claims that Mr. Namal Rajapaksa brought eight hundred thousand dollars and placed it on a table, and that these funds were invested in the LSR business, are completely false. He emphasizes that it is impractical to physically bring such a large sum of money in bags, and that no illegal money has been mixed into his businesses. Furthermore, regarding social media posts linking his name to alleged financial irregularities at the National Gem and Jewellery Authority, he states that the chairman of that authority was another person named Tilak Weerasinghe, not him, and that spreading such false propaganda using his pictures amounts to severe character assassination against him and his family.

Mr. Tilak Weerasinghe also vehemently rejects the accusations of misusing funds of the Sri Lanka Football Federation and obtaining tenders outside the procurement process. He reveals that the transportation and accommodation services were provided after evaluating the prices submitted through the Taj Hotel, and that the Football Federation still owes outstanding payments to LSR, which provided the tourism and transport services. Mr. Weerasinghe states that even the money for vehicle services provided at the request of airport authorities during the COVID quarantine period has not yet been received. He further declares that providing vehicles and accommodation facilities for the Sri Lanka Cricket Board was a successful business venture he undertook even before Mr. Namal Rajapaksa became the Minister of Sports, and that no misuse of state funds occurred in any way.
