NEW SUPERMARKET FOR NUGEGODA

Steps being taken to demolish existing supermarket and erect Trade Complex with 36 storeys
The Nugegoda Supermarket has been a popular centre among consumers of Nugegoda for quite sometime. A new project is now already underway from yesterday. A Singapore Company who is handling the project has demolished the open air theatre and other buildings in order to erect a trade centre of 36 storeys equipped with modern facilities

  The new construction is to include among many things, a network of of shopping centres, a children's park, a cinema hall, a swimming pool and a parking lot.

  While shops already in existence at the now supermarket would be afforded new opportunities because of the new construction, shopowners have been informed to remove their shops and would be paid compensation in that respect.

  The cost estimated for the new construction is USD.250 million. It is reported that this project which is hoped to be completed soon would take two and a half years. Accordingly, the new Trade Complex is to be opened in the year 2016.
