KIMBULAPITIYA MURDER

The story of ‘Fire cracker’ lover who had planned to his girl friend for three months ; as she had given up her love

Last Saturday morning a very cruel murder was reported from Kimbulapitiya area in Negombo. A youngster had been hiding in the back compound of a house until all the adults left for work. A 17 year old girl was living all alone. This youngster had slashed her head with a concrete stone and killed her by stabbing her.The girl who was killed was Dineshika Madurangani who was staying at home after sitting for the GCE O/L examination.
The murderer had been hiding in a shed behind her house and had stayed until her parents and her two brothers left for work around 8.30 a.m. He had entered the house had cut Dineshika’s neck with a sharp knife and had slashed her with concrete stone. She had succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect had tried to escape from the front door. As the neighbours had  heard her screams before the youth could escape he had been caught and handed over the Negombo Police.The suspect is Sajith Madushanka is 22 years old is a native of Kalthota area in Balangoda had come to Negombo in the year 2010 to  work in a fire cracker works shop in Negombo.After having seen the girl he had started a love affair with her.
This girl had not consented to his proposal. The girl however had disclosed the story to her two elder brothers. They had gone to meet Madushanka and had told not to bother the sister. At that time Madushanka who had got so furious and he hah said that will all of them. Although initially he has had the intention of killing all three nut later it is learnt that he would kill only Dineshika.
He had planned to kill her three months ago and he had made a confession to the Police that he had purchase a sharp knife for the killing.The day before the incident Madushanka had come late night and stayed in a shed behind the girl’s house and stayed breaking rest without sleeping until morning. At 8.30 a.m. as usual when the parents and the brothers had left he had come into the house from the back door had stabbed her in neck area and then with concrete stone he had hit her on the head when she had screamed. It is learnt that before he stabbed he had asked to give a word to him. As she did not give her consent he had stabbed her several times. After stabbing her he has found a concrete stone near the rear door had picked it and hit her on her head for to succumb to death.
When she was screaming the neighbours had heard and come to see what had happened. In the meantime the murderer while trying to escape was caught by the neighbours. The murderer could nor run a long way. The neighbours had caught him and handed over to the Negombo Police.
