Today at the Colombo Magistrate courts the murder case of slain Member of Parliament and Trade Union advisor was taken up for hearing. In this hearing the Attorney General had ordered the CID to file charge sheets against Duminda Silva and 12 other suspects. This ruling was given by the Colombo Magistrate on the orders of the Attorney General.
It is learnt that on hearing this news Hirunika ,  the daughter of the slain Bharatha Lakhsman Premachandra had jumped in joy. She had come out of the Court premises been very happy which she disclosed to the media. She added that ‘WE WON’,’WE WON’ which was what I really wanted to happen, really yelled.
At the courts the Magistrate Prasanna Alwis for the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra and four others, 13 persons inclusive of Duminda Silva were served with charge sheets today the 19th.In this instance 13 of the 22 suspects were served with charge sheets. Under the crime acts no’s 146, 300 and 296, they will be charged for the offences. ASP Shan Abeysekara disclosed. The relations and family members together with their Lawyer Upul kumarapperuma added that the officers under the purview of the Criminal Investigations Department despite working under severe duress and pressure succeeded in helping in delivering justice to the case which was tilting on a balance. They praised all these officers for their unbiased action taken.
As the suspects have been issued with charge sheets, the Magistrate as the  case was heard in the Magistrates courts, now it has to be heard in Court No 6 had conveyed to the officers of the CID.
Until now only the questioning of the suspects was only done hitherto, Duminda Silva and the other 12 suspects would be placed and subjected to a trial. The Lawyer appearing for Duminda Silva added that Duminda Silva would be able to be present at the trial when it is heard.
