FIVE YER OLD DIES INSIDE A MRI SCANNER

A five year old girl succumbs to death inside a MRI Scanner in a reputed private hospital when the oxygen pipes inside the MRI scanner had burst

A five year old had been subjected to MRI Scan report in the reputed private hospital. However, unfortunately owing to a defect that occurred in the MRI scanning machine the girl ha d succumbed to death. It is learnt that this MRI scanning machine had been used regardless without giving it a service and had maintained and monitored the condition of this MRI scanning machine. This incident is reported from a reputed private hospital in the Slave island area
The girl who had to meet with his very unfortunate death had been a resident of Mabima area in kelaniya is a five year old, Buddhi Ratnayake.  It is only the other day her mother had admitted her to the reputed private hospital after had got a ‘fit’. The specialist who was consulted had ordered for a MRI scan report of the patient.
This MRI scan had been done last Saturday. Usually a MRI scan is done by a Anaesthetic consultant together with two other qualified nurses. However this  MRI scan had been done by the Anaesthetic consultant all by herself. When the MRi scan was conducted the girl’s mother had been in a room in the vicinity. The mother of the girl had heard a noise of an explosion from the MRI scan machine area.
After the explosion the Anaesthetic doctor had screamed for help saying isn’t anybody coming to help me as the oxygen pipes have burst.No nurses had assisted her and given help. it was the mother of the daughter who had rushed to help the Anaesthetic doctor. At that moment when the body was taken out it had turned ‘blue’. The little girl had been taken out , placed in a trolley and taken to the ICU of the hospital.
The doctors had made valiant efforts to give attention to her heart which had stopped beating. The little girl’s mother had realised that she had already passed away. However the girl had been kept in the ICU from last Saturday to Wednesday. After five days the body had been handed over the body saying she had passed away with a hospital bill of Rs 9 lacks.
It is very strange that no doctors and the hospital authorities have not taken any responsibility with regard to this very unfortunate death.
Yesterday the ( 7th ) parents of the of the girl had brought into the hospital premises certain media personnel and had wanted to let the public know of the story and such an unfortunate death should never ever happen to any other patient. At that moment the hospital authorities had got their security personnel to prevent the media personnel in reporting the incident.
As the girls relatives and friends had tried to create a chaos situation inside the hospital premises the hospital authorities had complained this incident to the Slave Island police station.
 However the girls relatives had made a complaint to the Slave island Police personnel.  The girl’s father had been overseas at the time of the incident, but had returned to the Island when she was treated at the ICU.
The deceased Buddhi Ratnayake little girl has two elder brothers .It was reported that the MRI scanning had not been serviced for years and the oxygen pipes too had not been serviced or replaced.
