The news of the death of former Sri Lankan cricketer Guy de Alwis was heard on the 12th of this month. It was perhaps a sudden death. At the time of his death he was only 52 years old.
The diagnosis had been made only during the beginning of the month of November last year. It was only two months after the diagnosis he had died. When the doctors diagnosed his decease in the stomach he had been affected by it to the extent of 80%.It had been too late for the doctors. However the decease had got aggravated during the next seven weeks and his eyes had turned yellow and he had been getting thinner every day and had lost his appetite. Guy had been hospitalised on the 31st December and had come home on the 6th of January. At that time his heath condition had further worsened. Then he has had breathing difficulties. While becoming weaker and weaker he had passed away on the 12th of December.
Guy had been the father of two daughters. One is in the year six class while the younger one in the year four class. He had met his wife Rasnaji when he was coaching our women’s cricket team. Rasanji had confessed that he was a very loyal and devoted father to her and to the daughters. He according to his beloved wife does not care for minor ailments and always considers that he was a strong person. When he ultimately died of cancer he was only 52 years old.
