ANUPAMA JUMPS TO DEATH IN DUBAI

The mysterious death of Sri Lankan cleaning service employee
Did she jump from the fourth floor owing to her boss’s harassment?

Anupama had gone to Middle East to work as an employee in a cleaning service. She had jumped from the room located on the fourth floor where she had lodged and committed suicide. This incident was reported yesterday. According to Embassy officials the cause may have been as she had been frustrated with the harassment meted out to her by her boss.
The deceased R.R.M.Anupama Damayanthi is a resident of Nankadawara area in Madampe, Chilaw is a married mother. The tragic death had occurred on the 26th January. She had gone for employment as a cleaning employee four months ago to a cleaning service called ‘Jain Paryent’ situated in ‘Al Kusai’ in Dubai owned by a Sri Lankan. It is learnt that whenever she got the opportunity she used to call her younger sister and husband and it is also learnt that she had remitted money twice to Sri Lanka. The last occasion she had phoned her younger sister was on the 25th afternoon.
During the telephone call she had made inquiries about her husband and children and had conveyed that she is living happily. However it was conveyed on the 26th that in the morning she had jumped from her room in the fourth floor of the building and had died committing suicide. Her sister had told” there is reason for her to commit suicide. I have moved with her closely from small days and she is a person who will never get indulged in arguments and conflicts. She has sufficient suspicion over her death. For her to commit suicide there is no reason at all”.
It is reported that after she committed suicide the Dubai Police has taken into custody another Sri Lankan girl called Chamila who had shared her room on the fourth floor for questioning on suspicion. The officials of the Sri Lankan Dubai embassy had come to know that she has had some problems with the Sri Lankan owner of the Cleaning Services Company.
The owner by name Terin had made a statement to the newspapers in the emirates.”He had said that Anupama was working very happily and there was reason for her to jump from the fourth floor and commit suicide. She had absolutely no problems or conflicts with me. She knew to speak the Hindu Language very well. It was however learnt that she has had a conflict and an argument with the girl with whom she had shared her room before the incident.”
However her death is a mysterious one.  Anupama’s younger sister had made a plea to the Government to probe into the cause of her death. She also had made a confession “that this type of incident that happened to her elder sister should never happen to anyone else. Our sister death is very mysterious one and this mystery should be resolved”.......
