RAPE CASE INSIDE A BOUTIQUE AT WENNAPPUWA

THE ACCUSED GIVEN A 15 YEAR IMPRISONMENT:

An owner of a boutique, a lady had stayed after closing all alone in a space built for living. A youngster had come and had frightened her by pointing a knife and had raped her. This incident is reported from Wennappuwa.The youngster is less than half the age of the boutique owned lady. After the incident was reported to the Police, a court case was heard in courts.
The owner of the boutique is a widow aged 49 years and a mother of two children. Her husband is dead and one is a daughter lives in her sister’s house for her educational conveniences while the son is employed abroad. She is running a boutique near the Gangoda church. She had lived with her mother in law. On that day her mother in law had been away in a relative’s house.
As it was a festival day at the church she had kept the boutique opened until 11 p.m. and had gone to sleep. Around 3 p.m she had heard a voice “Anty, Anty”. She had asked who is speaking. Someone from outside had said “my bike has got stuck and to give him 100 rupees.”
When she asked again who is speaking there was no answer. She had not opened the door. She had heard someone jumping over her parapet wall and then climbing on to the roof. Thinking that person was a thief she had screamed and asked ‘who is this walking on the roof’ and had opened the door and shouted for help. She had seen a youngster who is also a familiar customer of the boutique.
When approaching her he had pointed a knife at her body and had told that if she shouts he will kill her. He also had told that if she let out this story that he will spread the story in the villagers that she was the person who invited her to come. Because of it she kept quiet. The youngster had raped the boutique owner and had fled away by grabbing a sum of Rupees one thousand from the owner of the boutique.
She had complained to the Police. The Police had arrested the suspect and produced to courts. The accused was 22 years younger than the boutique owner lady. In courts the boutique owner lady had related the story while crying. She had drawn the attention of the Judge. She had been raped by a youngster who is even younger than her son. For the offences committed the youngster had been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Judge.
