HIRUNIKA ADDRESSING A UPFA RALLY AT HINGURAKGODA

“Who is saying that I am anti Government”:
“I will strengthen the hands of the President”

-  Hirunika Premachandra

The other day at the last UPFA meeting held at Hingurakgoda before the Provincial Council Elections, Hirunika Premachandra made her DEBUT speech on a political platform.
However during the past year or so she had made several controversial issues over the media against the government, saying that the Government is absconding when she raised several questions about Member of Parliament Duminda Silva.
She did say that the Government is mum on her protests and had not even to bothered to reply her letters sent in that regard. She even requested the Government that her life is in danger and to provide her with sufficient security as there are threats to her life. She had confessed this matter to the courts as well.
It is surprising and astonishing to note in spite all these allegations against the Government she had got on the to the platform for the first time and in her Debut speech she had told to join hands to strengthen the President and those UPFA candidates who are on stage.
“This is the first time that I address a meeting on a political platform. I wish to say that most people have identified me as a person who is anti Government. There is nothing like that. I have come from a family having deep routes of a leftist party. I vouch to remain a leftist. My father had to sacrifice his life because he was a staunch leftist .I will never leave the party.
Minister and General Secretary of the party Maithripala Sirisena is a honest leader. That is the reason he invited me to this platform. It is now time to strengthen the President. I had always made adverse remarks made in regard to the injustice made to my father. Other than what I had spoken about this injustice meted out to him, I am a staunch UPFA supporter. Today morning I heard a story that I am going to form an affiliated opposition party. I have no intention of forming an opposition party. I have joined the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party as a representative member of it. This party i.e the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party is also a party closely affiliated to the UPFA .Hence I need not form a new party against the ruling Government party. There is purpose in joining the opposition” she concluded.
Her speech could be heard on SIRASA video from BELOW:

In an earlier instance by praising the former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, Member of Parliament Upeksha Swarnamali suddenly lost the confidence of the opposition and joined the Government ranks which was severely criticised by those who voted for her to become a M.P. This made her supporters astonished and bewildered.
