It is reported that two schoolboys from Janadhipathi College in Homagama had gone to enjoy to the Mt Lavinia beach during school hours. The Principal who had come to know of this incident had suspended the two students from attending school.
The students in sheer retaliation had gone to the extent of burning the Principal’s car and his motor cycle parked inside his official bungalow had fled away it is reported and learnt reliably. The incident reported on the night of the 1st September at the official residence of the Principal. The Principal had heard a noise of that of an explosion. When he came out he saw his motor vehicle and the motor cycle in flames. The planned exercise of the two suspended students was a success as they had placed the fire into the petrol tank which had caused the noise of an explosion.
As this cannot happen on its own the Principal had complained this incident to the Police. The Police had commenced investigations to find the culprits. On the 7th day the Police were able to reveal the culprits who were none other than the two boys who were suspended from school for not attending classes.
These two students were to sit for the GCE (Ordinary Level) examination at the end of this year. The two students who were constant absentees from school was a problem to the school’s administrative authorities. When this absenteeism was brought to the notice of the respective parents, what they said was they had been attending school.
In the meantime on a tip off the Principal had visited the Mt Lavinia beach and found the two students in a ‘cabana’ having liquor and enjoying with girl friends. The Principal had caught them and brought to the school and had summoned the parents and had given a thorough warning and the two students were suspended from school.
In order to take revenge the two students had taken this course of action against the Principal of the school. The Police had arrested the two students and produced before courts. The students had admitted their action and had agreed to pay the damages that occurred to the motor vehicle. Hence on these grounds the Magistrate had released them on bail.
