“You cannot earn like that. To earn do what I did in doing fish business
A 6 year old child says”:

Udaya kelum was the name of his earlier birth. Manuja Maheesha is his name in this birth:

A person who had died in an accident 11 years ago had been re born to parents who lived close to his former native village in Galle. This story had been reported as a true story of re- birth, which is a rare hearing. The person who died is one Udaya kelum who had lived in Udugama village in Galle. The boy reborn is Manuja Maheesha is from Akmeemana in Galle a neighbouring village.
11 long years ago Hettigamage Udaya kelum had been engaged in fish business and had been a wealthy person. He had possessed four three wheelers, two cars and a large house. He had died following an accident at the ‘bar’ junction. He had been the father of two children. He had been a wealthy businessman. When Udaya and some others were travelling in a tipper vehicle it had unfortunately overturned. He had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Karapitiya Hospital. He had been only 35 years old at the time of his tragic death The accident had occurred on the 26th August 2001.
The re-born boy Manuja had recollected his past who had been born on 27th October 2005.His father is one V.V. Tillekeratna. According to his parents it is learnt that he had over the years talking about matters related to his previous birth .One day when he was taken to see the Galle light house for the first time,” he had quipped that he had been to this place earlier”. He had said there is a staircase which is spiral and had described about it. He had told it is difficult to enter the premises without permission which is difficult to obtain. What the father Tillekeratna told was  that his son had told that he had entered to see it by giving two peacocks.
“The child talks about his previous birth when he is all alone. From his younger days he speaks about motor vehicles. From the time he was 10 months old re wants toy cars. He talks about Udugama and a person by the name ‘Sudu Nona’. He had said about receiving constant telephone calls from Tharindu and Himali. He talks about a life in Colombo. He imitates the manner he smoked keeping his legs crossed. He talks about his sister and brother. He could sing well. He could easily identify vehicle parts. He says he was addressed as ‘Sudu Mahattaya’ and had been engaged in the fish industry. He had said that one could earn a lot from the fish industry.
Manuja is undergoing preschool education and appears to behave in a peculiar manner. He always keeps looking at a certain point and keeps on looking at that point. He is seen thinking most of the time. The teachers have complained that his interest in studies is at a low level. At present Manuja is a year one student at Akmeemana kurunduwatta Sumangala Vidyalaya.
Media personnel visited Manuja, they had asked”what happened to you”?
“To see Sudu Nona we went to Udugama hospital in the tipper vehicle. There were 13 of us who travelled in the tipper vehicle. Suddenly the door of the vehicle broke and I was thrown away and died almost instantaneously in an unfortunate accident. However I was taken to the Udugama hospital where doctors tried to save my life by pressing my chest. By that time I had passed away.
Father of Manuja ,Tillekeratna had gone to Udugama to get at the truth of the story and to be relieved and be satisfied mentally.
“Son always requests to go to Udugama. He says the people there must be giving a lot of almsgivings to invoke blessings and merits by remembering my death. On the last 25th of last month Tillekeratna had gone to the Udugama Police Station to find precise details about the accident the was referring to. The Police staff had searched the past records which was over 12 years ago and had found details of the accident which had been proved as correct. From the details received they had proceeded with Manuja to Udugama, ketagoda area in search of this house where Manuja had lived in his previous birth.
On that particular day there had been an almsgiving in the memory of Manuja’s father which had been his 11th death anniversary. Manuja was very happy when he saw his former house. He was happy as ‘Hichchi Mahattaya’ had come. He felt that there was a terrific attachment. He was able to identify the colour of the tipper vehicle. He was looking on at his former photograph for about 10 minutes. His brother in his previous birth was lining in Colombo. Manuja spoke to him over the phone. The sister Hettigamage Sriyani Dharmatillake had this to say.
“What this small boy says is all true..I got a feeling like our ‘Hichchi’ Mallie had come home. He had a spot above his eye. Little Manuja too has a similar spot in the same place. I got a feeling of attachment. When we got the news about his arrival we were excited and were waiting for his arrival. He had quipped that the house had changed. The previous was damaged by floods and certain alterations had to be made. This little boy too had observed it. He had even identified one of his former friends.”
What Manuja’s father had said was.......
“When we went to the house it was found to be a familiar place to Manuja. When meals was given he did not eat the manner he usually eats. When he inquired about the car the sister of the deceased said it was sold. He behaved in an angry manner. There was a road for the three wheelers to travel. He also observed that the water tank which was on top of the roof was missing. The tipper vehicle was blue in colour. One door had been painted in green colour which he observed. From a computer the photograph of the deceased was shown. According to Manuja the late Udaya kelum has had a beared which was also proved correct”.
According to his parents the child Manuja will lose this memory as he grows .He was born on 27th October 2005 after four and a half years after the tragic death of Udaya Kelum.he cannot however recollect the period in between.
