So Udari, how is your life these days?
Answer:
“It’s very difficult to express the happiness and to tell you how wonderful life is. I don’t feel time passing while I am with my little daughter. It reminds me of my mother. She too would have felt the same happiness when I was born to her. On the other hand, it’s very strange to think that I am a mother since that role is new to me. My daughter is a month old. She was born in the hospital where my husband Sujith works. I’ve come to Sri Lanka for a short holiday. I am planning to visit some places. Now I feel that my life is all fulfilled.”
Question:
What is your daughter’s name?
Answer:
“Sujith and I decided to put a name starting with “S” since my husband’s name starts with “S”. Thus we named her Shenarya Umeili. The first name means “the queen of the gods”. The second name means “the woman who will be a great mother”.

Who made that name?
“Sujith and I made it”.
Question:
A mother of a daughter has a lot of responsibilities?
Answer:
“True. A woman is the one who creates a society. My daughter too will be such a great woman. So it’s my responsibility to mould her into bear an exemplary character. Majority of women face injustice in the society. That will be the same to my daughter as well. I will make sure that she learns them when she reaches age. I will teach her how to protect herself from the evils of the world and I will be more of a friend than a mother so that there won’t be any secrets between us.”
Question:
What will you do if your daughter requests your permission to select acting as a profession?
Answer:
“I will send her for it without posing any questions but I will be after her all the time.”
Question:
Are you planning to reside in Singapore?
Answer:
“We don’t have such a plan yet. We are planning to make sure that the child adopts into that environment. However, no other country has a culture that is so rich like the culture in Sri Lanka. Even though we want her to adopt into Singapore, I will teach her Sinhala.”
Question:
Will you stop acting?
Answer:
“I am scared to stop acting. The more I have fans, the happier I will be. Whenever I go out, my fans come and talk to me. I am very stingy to lose it. That’s the main reason that I don’t want to stop acting.”
Question:
When a young actress becomes a mother, she loses popularity. Do you agree?
Answer:
“How can I agree? I am in the most popular actresses list today. They say that “Sihina Piyapath” Tele drama misses me. They ask for me again. Today also I got some calls for Tele dramas.
Question:
When you start acting again, with whom will you keep your baby?
Answer:
“We will see. So far everything is done by me. I don’t have a nanny like the others. I don’t like others looking after my baby. I will face the things the way it comes.”
Question:
Tell us the truth, which is better, Singapore or here?
Answer:
“You are trying to trap me. Sri Lanka is the best. But Sujith is working in Singapore. So I will be spending more time there in the future. I run back to Sri Lanka here whenever I get the chance because I like it here. This too is a trip like that.”
Question:
Will that travelling be a problem to your daughter?
Answer:
“She is already used to these things. She came in the flight as if she is very used to it.”
Question:
Who does Shenarya resemble?
Answer:
“Everyone says that she looks just like Sujith. They say that she doesn’t have a single feature of mine.”
Question:
You are now a mother and a loyal wife. Are you satisfied about your life so far?
Answer:
“I started my career with Udayakantha Warnakulasooriya’s film “Paya Enna Hiru Se”. It became very popular. I got the opportunity to be the most popular actress from the first Tele drama I acted in. Even though I was away from acting for more than six months now, the fans are still looking for me. I am very happy for that. I got married on time and became a mother. So how can I not be satisfied with them? I am a satisfied woman.”
