To allow the ‘warranted’ husband to escape the second wife had jumped into ‘Kalu Ganga’ with seven month old child:
Last Saturday it was reported from Kalutara South in order to find a way for making an escape for her ‘warranted’ husband from the OIC Crimes division Lalith Pathmakumara and Police constable Ratnayake , the second wife had jumped into ‘Kalu Ganga’ with her seven month old child.
During this exercise when the Police raided the ‘warranted husband, Pulaginnage Padmal Madhusha, had escaped from the rear door of their house. The accused is a resident of Kohaolana Diaswatte in Kalutara South had been warranted for not attending courts on a number of occasions as he had been found guilty of not paying monthly compensation for his previous wife and for keeping liquor in his possession.
The Police constable had jumped into the river along with another person who is supposed to earn his living by plucking coconuts had rescued the second wife and the child.
At the end the OIC Crimes and the Police Constable had come back to the Police station sans the ‘warranted’ person who had by that time fled away.
