What some say to my mother, I feel very sad about them-ROSY’S Daughter:
Thisakya, daughter of Member of Parliament Rosy Senanayake comes for media interviews only very rarely. Today in the ‘Mawbima’ newspaper an interview of Thisakya is appearing in the tabloid edition, which is appended below:
“Although I go to Clubs with my family members my mother never goes to clubs. She had never even consumed a glass of Champaign. She did not give her consent for me to participate in the MISS SRI LANKA contest which I really liked to take part.
As my mother is woman there are some unnecessary stories spoken about her. These remarks have been borne by our family members. But I am very sad to hear about them.”
What she disclosed at the interview is appended below:
Mothers Name:: Rosy Senanayake
Your Full Name: Thisakya Maya Senanayake
If you wish tell your age: 24 years
School Attended:
“Up to year 9 Bishops College, Colombo and afterwards studied for the CIN”
Highest educational/professional qualification:
“I studied a course in Fashion Designing in England. Afterwards I returned to Sri Lanka after obtaining a Diploma.”
Are you doing a job in Sri Lanka:
“To display my talents and experience there is no place over here. Here in Sri Lanka my talents could be displayed only for a demand. My talents could not be exploited but they remain at a standstill.”
That means your experience is not given to those in Sri Lanka:
“I have not yet taken such a decision yet.”
What type of fashion do you like?
“I definitely like fashion. For fashion I wish to wear nice dresses for functions. When just going out I wear simple dresses.”
Do you wear short frocks?
“ Yes I do wear. Although it suits me my mother does not like it. I wear short frocks that suit my figure. I am careful as I have now put on weight.”
Do you have a night life?
“Yes I have. I started going out in the night when I was just 16 years. That was with my brother. At present i go out with my family members may be once a month. While in England I never had a night life.”
At night clubs the sons of Ministers and M.P’s behave in a thuggery manner?
“I cannot speak about it. I visit clubs only with my family members. There are guys who come after taking the drug ‘heroin’ and if one even leans on to them they start to fight. We are not that type. We behave mildly and we never take political advantage or influence wherever we go. In Sri Lanka night club lives begin at the ages of 15,16 or 17 years. I saw recently a young son of a Politician come out of a night club bleeding. This is the manner of behaviour of sons of our Politicians.”
Does your mother have a night life?
“She never goes out. To my knowledge she has never taken a glass of Champaign”.
Have you taken advantage of your mother’s political influence while on the road?
“You could verify this from any of my friends. I am yet to seek advantage in any situation, even for a traffic offence by the Police. Once for driving fast I was stopped, when a friend who was by my side whispered to tell about my mother. But still I never said anything and took political advantage.”
Do you use FACE BOOK?
“Yes, not to use but forced to use. When I was in England I had to speak with friends over in Sri Lanka. At the same time while in Sri Lanka I have to be in touch with my friends in England. Hence I am forced to use Face Book.”
Why wasn’t Rosy’s daughters were not popular or for that matter seen in the ‘media’.
“I was very anxious to participate in the Miss Sri Lanka contest. My mother did not allow me to contest. She, it is learnt had taken that decision to protect us. After looking after us so safely my mother did not want take any risk in exposing us.”
Have you got a boy friend?
“Yes I have. The love affair is now 3 ½ years old.”
Do you like to tell his name?
“No. I cannot tell now. If you could find who he is.”
What is the vehicle you are using?
“What is at home is too big. So my boy friend bought me a smaller car. It is a VIZT; it is a small white car.”
Have you met with accidents?
“Yes, it was only last week a small mishap with a three wheeler. He asked me money for repairs which I gave. There were only a few scrapes to my vehicle”.
We have often heard your mother been annoyed by colleague Parliamentarians?
“Yes I have heard. My mother is an easy target as she is a woman. Before she came into politics she was very popular and after she entered she became more popular. Hence there are several who are jealous about her and play on her jokes just to annoy her.
Some say bad stories about your mother, could you bear them?
“Although we could bear them we do not know who she takes them and digest them.”
What do you personally feel about the politics she does?
“I am aware that she helps a lot. She talks on their behalf. I am in full agreement with her type of politics. She has a tremendous feeling about the people and the country.”
Do you like her involvement in politics?
“I respect my mother. I also respect the manner she does politics. But I am sad when I hear about some utterings made against her”
Why is that your father is not seen?
“Father is there. He is doing a job. Like us he too does not face the ’media’”
Do you hope to come to politics?
“Our mother has never consented to our entering in to politics. Anyway when an injustice happens to society we join hands with her to boost her campaign. For abusing of children my mother is dead against and for her protests we too carry placards and join in her demonstrations. Beyond that we will never take part in politics”.
