CREDIBILITY OF MISS SRI LANKA FOR MISS UNIVERSE 2012

Was Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2012 selected on the influence of the ‘two letter’ Minister’s son?

The Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2012 was selected by the Siyatha/Lux contest recently. The winner was declared as Sabrina Herft. There is enough proof that she has had close relationships with the son of a powerful two letter cabinet Minister. It is now suspected that the organisers had been influenced in electing and favouring the ultimate winner.
This is further proved by the number of e mails that have been received by the organisers from various quarters. This fact is yet to be confirmed. However the suspicion is that a person who is not living in Sri Lanka and one who cannot speak the Sinhalese language could not be elected the winner who has to represent Sri Lanka at the Miss Universe 2012 contest.
The organisers of this event had been the owner of ‘Siyatha’ channel and Actress Sangeetha Weeraratna and the wife of Actor cum Minister Jeevan Kumaratunga’s wife Shereen Kumaratunga had totally denied these allegations. It is also learnt that no one could institute legal action against challenging the election of Sabrina Herft.
The winner of the Miss Sri Lanka 2012 Sabrina Herft had lived in Australia for a long time and had only lately attended an International school over here. It is further learnt that she cannot speak a word of Sinhala. Her eligibility to contest and winning in this event is spoken by many as there were better and more eligible contestants above her.
The name of the two letters Minister had been in the news these days over a major issue. There had been a golore of e mails that had poured into the hands of the organisers and Judges. It is also learnt that the Minister’s son had been married earlier and had got divorced and since he had been carrying on a love affair with the contestant who was declared the winner of Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2012.
The other contestants had raised objections to the organisers and Judges about her election as she had won through favouritism. It is also learnt that the organisers had been given with valuable presents to allow her to be elected the winner.
In the last year’s contest organised as the ‘MISS VEET’ for Miss Sri Lanka too had similar protests. The decision of the original winner was intimately changed. There too the influence of a powerful person has had an effect on the final verdict.
However Miss Sri Lanka to represent Miss Universe 2012 would be Miss Sabrina Herft.
Shown below are some of the photographs of the contestants taken at the contest.
