PRISONER, KADUWELA NISHANTHA HAD BEEN SHOT WHILE ESCAPING

Kaduwela Nishantha had been shot on his attempt to jump over the wall of the prison

Kaduwela Nishantha, a well renowned underworld thug whose name had been related to many murders had created uproar on his way back to Welikada prison from Homagama courts. He had attempted to escape when he had been brought out from the courts. He had somehow unfastened the chains and fistcuffs from his hands and he had abstained from five prison officers and jumped over the Court walls.
The prison officers had run after him and he had got into a paddy field. He had run fast and he had been playing hide and seek with the officers without surrendering. Finally, as the officials had no choice, they have decided to use their maximum powers and they have shot him.
He had been severely injured and had been admitted to Homagama hospital. Nishantha is one of the most deadly and violent underworld leaders in Sri Lanka who is still alive. He had been loafing freely so long and he had been arrested only recently. It is reported that his condition is still critical
