The news of the former sprint queen Susanthika Jayasinghe who was assaulted by her husband in April last year was published in the media. Her husband was taken into custody and later released on bail.
After this uproar she had been living all alone in this spacious house with her child. As she was feeling lonely she had shifted from this house at Bolgoda, to a flat which was donated to her by the Government at Narahenpita.
Yesterday she had given an interview to a week end newspaper explaining her pathetic story.

“I got secluded to myself and my child in the spacious house at Bolgoda. Hence I decided to come and live in my house at Narehenpita flats, which in comparison is very much smaller. For a person who had lived in a cadjan house, living in a luxurious house was only a dream. Because of that house I began to have conflicts with Dhammika.”

Was your selection of Dhammika as your husband a wise decision?

“No, the decision I took was itself a great loss to me. I was only 18 years old at that time. I selected him boldly as my husband”.

Does a woman need the protection of a man?

“I think a woman could live without a husband.But cannot live without a child. To stay calm you have should have committed offences. I am a person who is prepared to bow down to justice. I am a person who is even prepared to die by fighting injustice. I am person in that calibre. If I am assaulted I also would assault."
