Proceeds home after freed
A few minutes after Sarath Fonseka was freed he left the prison premises amidst ‘slogans’ uttered by his supporters who thronged n thousands. Sarath Fonseka greeted all of them and thanked for their unstinted support they gave him during the past two and a half years, by taking part in religious activities, protests etc.
It is reported that at several places of the island the supporters had celebrated his release by lighting fire crackers. After speaking him to his supporters he proceeded to his home. According to Anoma Fonseka, her husband would rest for a few days.

FROM SUPREME COURTS BACK TO PRISON:
After his lawyers produced the appeal papers to the Judges of the Supreme courts, which were accepted by the Supreme Court, Sarath Fonseka had to proceed back to the prison to sign papers with regard to his release from prison. Before leaving he addressed his supporters who thronged outside the prison premises who had been waiting since morning.

WORK AT NAWALOKA HOSPITAL AT A STANDSTILL:
Owing to the flocking of the supporters of a large number of supporters of Sarath Fonseka inside the Nawaloka hospital, the normally activities at the hospital had to come to a standstill until afternoon. It is reported that even the OPD patients could not be treated until the supporters dispersed

FONSEKA INJURED:
When Sarath Fonseka was taken out of the Nawaloka hospital to the Supreme courts the prison officers had to undergo a terrible experience had a difficulty in taking him out as his supporters were scrambling to have a glimpse of Sarath Fonseka. During this struggle Sarath Fonseka had injured one of his fingers. Inside the prison van he had his wound attended to with the aid of a plaster.

SARATH FONSEKA USES THE STAIRCASE:

When taken to the Supreme Court the appeal case as herd at the 6th floor. It is learnt that Sarath Fonseka had used the stair case to climb up to the 6th floor.

Sarath Fonseka after discharging from the Nawaloka hospital would proceed to the Welikada prison:
As scheduled he would be freed this afternoon:


It is reported that Sarath Fonseka who as under treatment at the Nawaloka hospital had been discharged and is schooled to proceed to the Remand prison at Welikada to attend to the formalities in regard to his release from the prison. He needs to sign the documents prepared pertaining to his release.
Sarath Fonseka has got President’s pardon and consent to be freed. However to be released from the prison he needs to sign certain documents prepared by the prison authorities for his release from prison. The approval of the courts too have to be received. It is learnt that he would be released by 12 noon, 1p.m or by 2p.m

Fonseka’s release fixed for Monday after completion of formalities:
Is it like fairy stories?


Initially, the day Fonseka as released as told as Friday. Then it as told that would be on Saturday when President announces it during his speech at the Victory Day celebrations. Now like children’s fairy stories the day had been postponed to Monday.
The reason for this is because the papers in this connection have to be prepared on a working day by the staff of the prison. These papers ill have to be handed over for President’s signature before they are handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Prisons
These papers have to be prepared as it is a President’s pardon according to Government Act No 34 (1) and its two sub clauses. The former Commander would be freed only after he receives the papers prepared for President’s pardon are received by him on Monday afternoon. On receiving these papers the former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka can leave the Nawaloka Hospital and go home.
According to Anoma Fonseka her intention is to take her home from the Nawaloka hospital. Although Sarath Fonseka receives pardon from the President to be freed, he would have to come for trials to courts for the other pending court cases. According to Court authorities they revealed that these cases would be completed without much delay and postponement.

Due to the economical difficulties faced by Fonseka, he has stated that he is unable to pay the cash bail of 1 million rupees. 

The defendant lawyer of Sarath Fonseka, Saliya Peiris has stated that his client is not in a position to pay the cash bail which is one million rupees since he is facing some financial difficulties.
Then the High Court judge had said that he had ordered the minimum amount that can be decided on such a case. However, the lawyer, Saliya Peiris had agreed to pay the bail to free Sarath Fonseka.
One of the special moments of today’s court case was that Solicitor General Buvaneka Aluvihare who usually disagrees when the discussion of bailing Sarath Fonskea pops in, had been silent today.
It is reported that many people had fought to pay the personnel bail of Rs. 25,000 and finally Thilaka Munasinghe and Sanjeewa Kumara had paid the personal bail.

HUGE CROWD GATHERS AROUND NAWALOKA HOSPITAL
It is reported that many people, supporters and the media had gathered around Nawaloka to wish Sarath Fonseka who is under the treatments at Nawaloka hospital. However, all of them have not been able to visit Sarath Fonseka, and only Arjuna Ranatunga had been able to visit him.

11.25A.M  UPDATES
SARATH FONSEKA CAN BE RELEASED ON BAIL BUT HE CANNOT GO ABROAD
COURT GIVES THE FINAL JUDGEMENT

The High Court judge has granted bail to Sarath Fonseka in the court case which had been filed against him regarding the harbouring of the military deserters. Accordingly, he will be released with a cash bail worth of Rs. 1 million.
At the same time he was banned from going abroad and thus his pass port was taken into the custody of the court. This is the first time, Sarath Fonseka received a favourable reply from the court.
He couldn’t witness the scene because he is still under treatment at the Nawaloaka hospital. A medical report was brought before the court before hearing the court case. In the mean time his supporters were gathered around the court complex in large numbers in a protest asking to release Sarath Fonseka.
However, even though he was released by the court on one case, he still has  to look forward for the decision of the President to get pardoned regarding the other cases that are against him.

Fonseka to be freed on 19th Saturday

The latest news about the release of Sarath Fonseka would be tomorrow the 19th Saturday. It is learnt from informed sources that the President is to sign all papers pertaining to his release tonight.
It would be after announcing this to the public during his speech he is going to make on the ‘Victory day’ celebrations at the Galle Face tomorrow the 19th.

CABINET APPROVAL GRANTED TO FREE FONSEKA

A little while ago, Presidential media unit has announced that the Cabinet has approved the proposal brought forward by the President, Mahinda Rajapakse to release Sarath Fonseka.
Accordingly, the final announcement is to be made soon. It is reported that the President will announce that tonight or at the Victory celebrations day.
At the same time, Sarath Fonseka’s court case is to be held tomorrow and there is hope that he will get bailed out or to be released
