My eyes were swollen because I have undergone an eye surgery:
Some interpreted that as it was due to effect of illegal drugs:
Ravindra criticized the media but he did not speak to me:
Angela Seneviratne’s name (who was a secretary to the Saudi Embassy Ambassador) was used in a drug parcel scandal and hence she faced many difficulties as a result of how media brought it to the knowledge of the public. As a result she even lost her job. Ravindra Randeniya blamed the media saying that the fact that her name was in the parcel does not make her an offender or a convict. He also stated that he would talk on her behalf as an artist. However it is reported that even though he addressed the media in such a way he hasn’t even contacted Angela over the phone yet.
That had been revealed from the interview given by Angela to ‘Divaina’, newspaper. There she had named the list of artists who had contacted her and that list is as below:
“Anoja Weerasinghe,Mario Jayatunga, Kalum Wijesooriya, Priyantha Wijekoon, Kamal Addaraarachchi and Jayantha Katagoda spoke to me. Even though Ravindra Randeniya did not speak to me personally, he had mentioned that it is wrong to blame a famous artist without proof.”
Angela had stated that many web sites had published that her eyes were swollen since she had been using illegal drugs. She had stated that they have done that without knowing anything about the accident she faced and the surgery she had to undergo due to that. This was how she mentioned it to ‘Sarasaviya’ newspaper:
“It was published in the media that I am using illegal drugs. There proof was the fact that my eyes were swollen. One of my eyes is swollen because I underwent a surgery. That’s why my eye is swollen. I have to operate the other eye as well. At times I feel how cruel these people around me are”
