WIMAL’S BUDDHIST FLAG SIGNAL

The race which was given a start to run across the village was given by waving a BUDDHIST flag by Minister Wimal Weerawansa:

The day before yesterday the chief guest of the Avurudu celebrations in the Kotalawela area of Kaduwela was Minister Wimal Weerawansa. Amongst other duties as the chief guest he was entrusted to give the start for the race that was run across the village.
Under normal circumstances a flag stipulated for this purpose is used in some colour at the start of the race. As this was organised by a ’Daham’  Pasela affiliated to the Kaduwela, Kotalawela, Sangapitta temple only a Buddhist flag was made available to give Minister Wimal Weerawansa to give the signal to

commence the race. Hence he had no other alternative but in contrast to the start of the usual races he had to use the Buddhist flag for this purpose, which is shown in the picture accompanying this article.
