POLICE OFFICER KILLED IN VEHICLE CRASH

A traffic Police Constable killed at Borella, while performing duties after having been knocked down by a speeding cab vehicle:

Normal accidents are very common in this country. It is very rare that a Police officer is injured having been knocked by a passing vehicle.
A traffic Police constable who was performing his duties directing traffic near the Welikada prison had been knocked by a speeding cab vehicle. The driver of this speeding cab vehicle had failed to apply brakes to  prevent knocking down the traffic Police constable on duty.
He had sustained serious injuries and admitted to hospital yesterday. Unfortunately he had succumbed to his injuries this morning. This had been a very sorrowful and an isolated incident.
