INDIA- SRI LANKA TALKS ABOUT DEVOLUTION OF POWER

Sri Lankan government promises India to make the North Eastern provinces a separate unit sans holding the Police and land administration practical.

It is revealed that the Sri Lankan Government has made a special promise to the Indian Opposition leader and the team who are on a tour in Sri Lanka.
The Government had promised the opposition leader of Indian Government Sushma Swaraj that the power will be devolved in the North East. Accordingly, North East will be a separate Independent region except for the Police and land administrative practical powers.
Here, the Indian team has argued saying that every region in India has both the powers. But the Sri Lankan Government has not agreed with them.
They have shown that it can lead to many problems in the future and that the Indian Minister, Jayalalitha had already showed her disapproval to open a center to alleviate terrorism.
It was reported that this team had continuously discussed about the changes made in the 13th amendment and they have shown that they are happy about the new stand point of Sri Lanka.
Even though the Government was not ready for such a thing during the past few years, things have changed after the Geneva Human Rights Council.
India had showed their displeasure and that the Sri Lankan Government has done injustice towards the Tamil people in the North & Eastern Provinces and they have brought this in the Geneva councils Human Rights meeting. In addition, they even voted against Sri Lanka.
In between the back ground for North East to be an independent state except Police and land administrative practical powers is made possible.
The Indian team has visited North East and they have met the Tamil people and as reported by the Government Media, they have been surprised to see the rapid development in the North East.
