“HASHISH” CASE: THE ACTRESS HAD LIVED AT THAT ADDRESS ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO:

When suspicion arose one foreigner had bolted, while the other foreigner had tried to grab the parcel and tried to flee:

The foreign National when caught with the parcel containing ‘Hashish’, was questioned by the Police several important information was unearthed which had helped in their investigations.
He is a British National and had stayed in this house rented out by a lady employee working in an Embassy. The Number of the house is No 67, Hudson Road, Colombo 3.This was revealed during the investigations.
This house had been rented out to this lady by the Brother- in- law of M/s Singer Company’s Amarasuriya.  She had lived in that house only about over 10 years ago on rent.
The foreign couple who had rented out the house and
 have lived in that house only from the 4th of April this month. It was the usual custom of the Central Mail Exchange authorities to send a letter to the recipient when a parcel is received. The related acknowledgement had been sent to the address of this rented out house and Hudson Road, Colombo 3, in the name of Angela Seneviratna.
The British National along with his friend had forged Angela’s signature and had written a letter to the Central Mail Exchange authorities delegating authority to hand over the parcel to one of them.

Was this letter was really written by Angela?
It is yet to be revealed whether the tourists forged the signature of Angela to collect the parcel. The Custom officers are now going to question Angela Seneviratna and the lady to whom the house was given on rent to reveal further information for the investigations
There had been three parcels containing foreign Magazines. In one particular Magazine which was large when the pages were turned it was found that certain pages were cut into squares, the drug ‘Hashish’ had been inserted in to them. It had weighed 366 grams and was estimated to value a sum of Rs 75,000/-.
When the parcels were checked one foreigner had fled. The other had grabbed the parcels and had attempted to flee avoiding the custom officers. The latter was caught with difficulty and arrested. After arresting him the custom officers are now making an endeavour to find who had despatched the parcel, and the culprits behind the act.
