YOUTH FALLS OFF THE TRAIN

The unfortunate death of the youth who fell off from the unstable state of foot board of a train

An incident of a youth who died after falling from the foot board of the train was reported from Veyangoda yesterday. He had lived for about an hour after the accident.
It was Sameera Prasad, a youth 24 years old who had tried to get down from Veyangoda from the train which was travelling from Colombo to Vavuniya. He had been a

resident of Veyangoda.
It is reported that he had stepped on the foot board when the train was reaching the Veyangoda Station and since the nails of the foot board has been loosened he had fallen off the train on to the rail tracks. After the mishap, his body has separated into three parts.
It was also reported that he has been talking normally after the incident and he had not realized that his body had broken into three parts.
He had asked from one who had come for support about his legs saying that he can’t feel anything as the body was all numb. On his way to the hospital, after he had known that his body is in parts he had told not to tell this to his mother or to his sister and to do something to look after them. It was reported that he had been given saline but had passed away 45 minutes later.
It was also said that he had been expecting to go to Korea for a job and that he had been the bread winner in his family. It was reported that the train was stopped at Mahawa Railway Station after the accident and that the foot board was repaired.
