The FIRST LADY of Sri Lanka rarely gives interviews to newspapers. In a recent newspaper for the ‘Rivira’ newspaper, it was emphasised about her school days and in particular in winning the Miss Sri Lanka crown in the year 1973.
After winning the Miss Sri Lanka crown in the year 1973 she represented in the Miss World contest held at the Royal Albert hall in London on the 23rd November 1973. At that time Sri Lanka was a Republic and was called the Republic of Sri Lanka. This contest was won by the American contestant where altogether 54 contestants participated in this event.
