At Geneva ,Switzerland UN sessions India to protect Sri Lanka
Tomorrow at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland certain proposals are to be brought against Sri Lanka, it is learnt reliably that India is going to oppose them. This was revealed by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the‘Lok Sabha’.
“He had stated that Indian Government is intending to vote in favour of the US-led resolution against Sri Lanka, at the UNHRC, but awaited the final draft of the resolution”.
Speaking on the issues of alleged war crimes and Tamils in Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said “India has stressed on reconciliation and healing wounds of the Sri Lankan Tamils. We have stressed on a meaningful devolution of power.
After the resolutions on Friday 23rd there is going to have a voting system, where there is likelihood that Sri Lanka would be beaten. In that event it has been told by critics that Sri Lanka would lose the faith of donor countries and would drastically affect our Tourist Industry.
