Acid attacked victim steps on to the stage

During these days with the Municipal Council elections are just on the corner various stories are heard and peculiar incidents are taking place.
A young woman who was famous for her beauty earlier, having a distorted face now stepped on to a UNP platform in support of the UNP candidates.
On this platform she had confessed with proof about a very unfortunate incident she had to face by a nominated candidate for Mayorship of the UPFA in Negombo in the year 2007. She had been forcibly taken in by him and had tried to rape her. As she did not give her consent she had been subjected to an acid attack which had resulted in severe burn injuries to her face and body.
The injustice caused to her was proved to the media by furnishing medical reports and other related documents along with photographs. This beautiful young lady by name is Iresha Lakmini Kumari, who was famous then and had posed for many newspapers, magazines and tabloid editions of various newspapers.
After this unfortunate incident her face is now distorted with scars and is deprived her of appearing and for posing for photographs. This incident was very valuable to take advantage for Politicians at this juncture with the Municipal Council elections just a few days ahead.
