CELL PHONE AIDS POLICE TO SOLVE MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF SCHOOL TEACHER

From the SIM Card of a ‘Mobitel’ helps the Police to find the root cause of Teacher’s mysterious death:

It is reported that a teacher from the Wattala area who was presumed to have died after taking treatment from a beauty salon. Her body was found after a few days abandoned from grass bush along Hekitta road in Wattala by the Police.
The incident had occurred to Srini Wasana,a school teacher, the mother of a small daughter. Her husband is employed abroad. On the 24th of last month she had left home to go to the bank, attend to some of her needs and to a Beauty Salon to cut her hair and to have a ‘facial’ as well.
She had informed the home folk that after attending to her work she would be proceeding to ‘Koppara’ junction in Negombo to visit her Beauty Salon. As she never returned that day her little daughter with the help of her relatives and neighbours had tried to locate her.
The only clue that was available was from a student of her having seen her going to the Beauty Salon at ‘Koppara’ junction on Negombo. However her body was found only last Sunday inside a grass bush along the Hekitta road in Wattala. She was wearing the same red coloured blouse and her denim trouser and having a hand bag. Money and jewellery all had been stolen.
Her legs were very clean devoid of dirt. The Police had suspected that her body had been brought to this location, perhaps after killing her in another location. There was a plastic bag with some children’s toys close to her dead body and a mobile phone. The Police when commenced investigations tried to call her on her mobile, but there was no answer. Earlier when she was missing the neighbours too failed in their attempt to contact her over her mobile but failed in their attempts.
However with the assistance of the Mobile telephone company and the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority with the serial number of the mobile phone was able to find the person who had removed the ‘SIM’ by dialling *# 06 #.With that information the person who was using the ‘Sim’ was able to be located. It revealed that it was the lady owner of the ‘Koppara’ junction Negombo beauty salon was using her phone. When she was questioned she denied that she is not aware of such a person and not had even seen her.
Her husband who is running an ‘optical’ shop in the same building was not available to be questioned at that time. However the Police questioned him separately very tactfully saying that his wife had disclosed everything. He told that she is a regular customer who visits the salon often. She had come to do a facial .After certain chemicals were applied she had found breathing to be difficult and ultimately she was pronounced dead.
Although there was a hospital nearby she was not taken to hospital as they would have to relate the entire story that would affect their business. His wife wanted the dead body hidden somewhere until it was dark. They had ordered for a hiring van and found a large hardboard box from home where their child’s toys are stored. The body was taken to a lonely place in Hekitta Road in Wattala and it was burnt.
After this confession both the husband and wife were remanded in Police custody. While bringing the hardboard box a part of the toy was entangled in the body of the deceased, while the part of the toy was at their residence. Because of finding the ‘sim’ of the mobile phone this mysterious death was unearthed,
