A BAD OMEN ON BHARATHA’S LAST DAY

“The day I die something that could not be believed would happen” Bharatha had said.
Inauspicious signs were shown-Bharatha’s wife reveals.

It is reported by Sumana Premachandra, wife of slain Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, that on the day of the incident there were several inauspicious signs were noticed. She was to go to the Asiri Surgical hospital to take some blood tests and had left early ashe had to there before 7 a.m. She was surprised that Bharatha had not left home until she returned. This incident she could not believe. The excuse Bharaha had given was as his sarong was dirty it took a little time to change into another sarong.
It had been a practice for them to have breakfast together. On that day he had left home without even having a cup of tea. Usually he used to come home daily for lunch. On that day he had not answered to a telephone call she had given him.
After coming to know about the incident she and her daughter had gone to the Colombo National Hospital instead of the Mulleriyawa hospital. How the incident had taken place, she is yet to understand.
A few days before the incident all of them had been watching a film of Amitha Batchchan. Hirunika had commented that the day he dies the whole world would weep .In response Baratha had said “The day I die also, something unbelievable would occur”.
Bharatha and Sumana had married after having had a love affair spanning for 7 to 8 years. She is a native of Welimada. She had said that Bharatha has had a tremendous love to her and the children. She had told that Bharatha is a systematic person. He used to wash, dry and iron his own clothes.
He goes personally to pay all bills that needed to be paid. When the children were studying in England it was she who visited them. Bharatha never went as he was concerned about his elderly parents as there was nobody to take care of them and their needs.
It was told by Bharatha’s wife that he was making plans to take Hirunika’s wedding on a grand scale. His threats to his life were never revealed to his wife. When she revealed to him that he had heard from other sources what he said was how that can happen as I have never harmed anyone. There is nobody to kill me.
