Bharatha’s Sisters and Brother will hold a Media Briefing today
without Hirunika and Bharatha’s wife.
In the context of justice not meted out to slain Bharatha and for the government to know, Bharatha’s 4 sisters living in Canada and the only brother also living in Canada, together with the only Sister living in Sri Lanka have decided to have a Media briefing this morning (the 18th) at the Hotel Nippon.
It is learnt that the purpose of the meeting is because the Government is keeping quiet and to make the Government and the media to know about the situation.
“See what Lakshman Hulugalle had said about the killing. We feel that a severe injustice has been meted out to us.” This had been said by Bharatha’s sister Mrs Swarna Gunaratna. She and her other 3 sisters and the only brother had come from Canada on hearing about their brother’s killing.
When inquiries were made whether Bharatha’s wife Sumana Premachandra and daughter Hirunika are also participating, the answer given by Bharatha’s wife is that ‘now what is the point, Bharatha is now dead, it is pointless having media conferences now.’
