BHARATHA'S DRIVER RELATES THE ENTIRE STORY

The story of Baratha’s driver who narrowly escaped having been closest to Baratha:
On Saturday evening when the incident occurred, Baratha’s driver who saw everything explained in the following manner:

“When we came to Walpola junction it was around 3.30 p.m. and there were only a few minutes for polling to be over. Baratha had told that he wanted to inspect a few polling booths in the Mulleriyawa area. Near Walpola junction three Prado jeeps of Duminda had confronted them and had blocked Baratha’s jeep. Duminda Silva got down from his jeep with a pistol in his hand saying filthy words. .At that time Baratha too got off the vehicle and confronted with Duminda.
 During the argument Duminda had given a thundering slap to Baratha to fall down. Then one of the supporters of Duminda had shot Baratha at his legs and as he was struggling holding his legs one supporter had yelled shoot him in the head and finish him. The supporters of Duminda had sprayed T 56 bullets all over his body. Two body guards of Baratha had tried to carry him to the jeep when they were also shot at by the Duminda’s supporters. A team of special secret Police had recorded statements.
After the shooting of Baratha, his supports had also started shooting injuring Duminda. When Duminda’s supporters were following Baratha’s supporters’ to attack the driver had somehow evaded them and has had a narrow escape.”
It was revealed that Duminda’s supporters have had in their possession 7, T 56 rifles. After they shot at Baratha’s body guards they had grabbed one T 56 rifle.
