Government Office Made Non Functional Owing To Wedding of an Employee.
All Employees have attended the wedding of an employee keeping the office empty without any customer services
In the event of a function such as a wedding of a colleague of any institution, Government or otherwise, the participation of brother and sister employees is essential and is a must. To attend a wedding by taking leave to participate is not an offence. But arrangements should be made to meet customer needs by making arrangements for a skeleton or a shuttle staff to work. But by attending a wedding function from 9.30 a.m. to 3.20 p.m. by all employees is debatable and a question that need to be addressed.
But having the office completely closed by depriving customers who come from faraway places to get their work attended to is very unreasonable, when they are compelled to go back with their matters unresolved. This is a matter of great concern and need to be addressed immediately.
This incident had been reported at the office of the Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy located at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 7. It is reported with responsibility that this date was Wednesday the 10th August. It had been confirmed that all employees had left office at 9.30 a.m and had returned only at 3.20.p.m.Those who really adamant to have their work attended to had stayed on and had been attended to only at 3.30 p.m. after the members of the staff returned and settled down to their duties.
A certain gentleman who had visited three times during this period had taken these photographs of the empty office which are shown. It was also revealed that the security guards also has had a holiday and had been seen sleeping with the noise of snoring.
