S.B’s SECURUTY VEHICLE KILLS ONE PERSON

Speeding S.B.’s security vehicle collides with a motor cycle, killing the rider and seriously injuring wife treated at the ICU:

Driver denies knocking down the motor cycle by saying ’I did not see’:
A retired engineer of the National Water Supply & Drainage Board and his wife travelling as the pillion rider had been knocked by a speeding security jeep, where S.B’s security personnel were travelling along Serpentine Road in Borella and had fed away without stopping. However the driver of this security vehicle was arrested by the Borella Police yesterday (31st).
As a result of this mishap both were seriously injured and as the jeep had fled without stopping the injured two had been admitted to the Colombo’s National Hospital by people who had been in the vicinity. The rider, the retired engineer succumbed to his injuries while his wife is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit in a serious condition at the Colombo’s National hospital.
This accident had occurred on the 30th instant when the retired engineer had taken his wife also an employee of the NWS&DB on the pillion to the bus stand at Borella junction. After the accident the Borella Police and the Army intelligence unit had made a search for this jeep and investigations had revealed that the jeep belonged to the security of Minister S.B. Dissanayake, who had not been in the convoy of vehicles that had gone to pick the Ministers son from the Katunayake airport.
The driver of the jeep had been arrested by the Police, who had denied saying that’ he did not see’. However investigations had confirmed that this security jeep had knocked down the motor cyclist carrying the pillion rider.
The arrested driver, a Police constable was produced before courts, while the Borella Police is conducting further investigations.
