A group of attractive girls in the pretext of prostitutes apprehended

The Police authorities had got the information about an organised gang of attractive girls of a different style who had been loitering at bus halts in the Pettah area. This gang had used to be at bus halts between 11-12 p.m in the pretext of real prostitutes. They wait eagerly to meet prospective clients. Once they meet the proper client he is taken to guest house of their choice well known to them.
Once they enter the guest house, a room is taken and the client is politely told to take a good wash or a shower from the attached bathroom. Before the client comes out of the washroom the female party bolts away robbing the valuable belongings of the client by saying ‘Police has raided, Police has raided’.
It has also been revealed that these girls take clients to deserted roads and run away robbing some valuables from the client. Invariably the respectable client does not give chase to catch the female robber due to shame.
It has been found that Police had been aware of such an operation by a group of girls. However by deploying some spies they had been able to cordon and apprehend 10 such girls in the group last week. These female robbers were of the ages 20-30 years and had hailed from places like Moneragala, kurunegala, Matara, Galle and Wellampitiya. They had confessed that they had joined this robbery group after coming to Colombo in search of jobs.
It had revealed that these female robbers were instructed by a group of males in this operation. The Police are conducting investigations and are on the look out to apprehend them too.
