Battle for Mayor’s seat between Moragoda and Muzammil
There was a lot of speculation that who would be nominated by the two major parties for the prestigious Mayor’s seat. Amongst these speculations now it has been finalised who are the two main contestants who would be nominated from the two major parties for the prestigious Mayor’s seat. Accordingly former Member of Parliament Milinda Moragoda and UNP’s stalwart A.J.M.Muzammil are to be nominated to contest under the UPFA and UNP tickets respectively.
At a previous General Election, Milinda Moragoda was elected to the Parliament from the UNP ticket having polled a high number of preferential votes. However he failed to enter the Parliament, during the last General Elections having polled a fewer amount of preferential votes, having contested under the UPFA. On the other hand Muzammil polled a higher number of preferential votes under the UNP ticket at the last General Elections.
