A CHILD DIES DROWNED IN A WASH BASIN OF WATER

A CHILD FOUND DEAD INSIDE A WASH BASIN
The very unfortunate incident of a child 1 ½ years old had died drowned in a wash basin is reported from the Devalegama  area. The child is under the care of the grandmother when the parents leave for work. It is reported that the child was seen playing in the afternoon when the businessman father had come home for lunch.
The grandmother had said that when the child was sleeping in the afternoon she too had slept by the side. As she was taking treatment for hypertension she had fallen into a deep sleep and when she got up she found the child was missing. When she searched for him she saw the child floating in a basin of water that is used for the work in the kitchen. The child was holding a rubber ball in his hand. It is presumed that while the child was playing with the ball it may have fallen into the wash basin with water and while trying to take the ball the child may have fallen into it and got drowned.
If more close attention was drawn to look after the child this unfortunate incident could have been avoided.
