At the Government’s May Day rally the usual main theme of chanting slogans by those taking part in processions, were deviated by the workers to focus more attention to Ban ki-moon’s three committee 214 pages report on war crimes, particularly by those in the procession of Wimal Weerawansa’s National Freedom Party. Chanting of usual slogans of the May Day celebrations took a lower emphasis.
This was visible exclusively in the procession of the National Freedom Party where in processions certain effigies and distorted placards of Ban ki-moon were displayed. These were burnt at selected places on the road during the journey of the processions.
They also displayed under their banner a huge advertising board with pictures of leaders of socialist countries Cuba, Russia, China, Venusuala and Libiya.President Mahinda Rajapaksa is shown as the leader among them.
