It is the normal tradition when erecting a Pandal to depict a Jathaka story. In complete contrast and against the past traditions and our Buddhist culture a Pandal has been erected at the Colombo ‘Buddha Rashmi Gangarama Vesak zone’. The story depicts and elaborates solely on Women’s oppression.
This Pandal is to be exhibited between the 18th to the 22nd. It had been sponsored by ‘CARE INTRNATIONAL’ It is a production of JWT Advertising.
This type of Pandol should have erected not on vesak day but on any other day
ReplyDeleteI do not see how this is against Buddhist culture. If anything it is completely inline with the teachings of Buddha, especially ahimsa. Also how is it contrary to past traditions? Has it been our tradition to hit and abuse women? It is on days such as Vesak that such difficult issues need to be addressed. Also remember that CARE "International" is run by Sri Lankans, not by suddhas. Do your research gossip Lanka.
