OBSERVANCE OF A 2 MINUTES SILENCE FOR NANDIMITHRA EKANAYAKE, WHO WAS ALIVE

A 2 minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the Deputy Minister of Higher Education. This silence was observed by the participants of the Pensioners Association of the Matale area. The question is why this was made while he was alive.
While the Media Secretary of the Deputy Minister had explained the delay for his arrival, he over emphasised about his qualities, goals and milestones achieved and about his character which had baffled the members of the Pensioners Association. They had instantaneously thought that he had expired and had proposed to observe a 2 minute silence by standing as a mark of respect. The Media Secretary’s efforts to prevent to break the silence proved futile. This had brought laughter to the Deputy Minister on hearing this incident.
