Graduate competing for post of hangman ... tragedy of the country

Member of parliament, Dallas Alahapperuma says that a graduate too attending an interview held for post of hangman. 17 applicants have been present for this interview and one of them happens to be graduate the parliamentarian said and he added that this is the news heard after a period of 71 years since free education came into operation and that this is the most sorrowful piece of news that
was heard and that it is most tragic. 

If Mr. C.W.W. Kannangara, the Father of free education was among the living, he may have committed suicide after hearing this news, the parliamentarian added. He further stated that the story of a coconut plucker who incidentally was a graduate was published across the media 2 weeks before this and revealed that graduates being given jobs on policy basis has by now become inactive and that 70,000 jobless graduates are to be found in this country.    

He added that there was no instance where graduates were left helpless than this and that intelligent sons and daughters of this country have been brought before the guillotine. This he said at the media briefing held yesterday (3) at the Colombo office of of the opposition leader.
