Sangakkara refutes story that he met Rajitha on common candidate matter

A secret meeting has taken place on a Friday evening last week between minister Rajitha Senaratna and super batting star Kumar Sangakkara which has lasted throughout two and a half hours and after this was revealed across social media, subsequent to which Sangakkara has mentioned through his Twitter account that news that this meeting was about a common candidate is free from the truth.

Frontline media has reported that a special meeting was held during evening hours last fourth

between minister Rajitha and Kumar Sangakkara at former's official room at Health Ministry and that security officers and secretaries had been sent out of the room. What was notified to persons at the ministry was that the minister was conducting this discussion with the idea of involving Sangakkara to become a participant in a campaign which boosts individual health of the public and a rumour has floated around that it was a preliminary discussion related to appointing Sangakkara as the common candidate at the forthcoming Presidential election from the United National Front. As Sangakkara has on a number of previous occasions has mentioned that he will never come into politics, nobody was able to come to a permanent conclusion about this matter.

While steps are being taken to bring Maithri as the 2015 common candidate and Rajitha is taking the main stand with Patali Champika, Chandrika, Rajitha Ranil carrying out preliminary activities in creating a broad 'peramuna', there is reason for this suspicion to emerge when it has been stated on several instances that a candidate whom no one believed about would be introduced.
