Sanath - Sandra divorce case

Mrs. Sandra Tania Rosemary de Silva (25),mother of 3 children today filed action against popular cricketer and Deputy Minister Mr.Sanath Jayasuriya at Colombo district courts asking for a divorce.

She had stated that she wishes to separate from her husband who possesses assets to the value of over a billion and therefore has claimed a compensation of 800 million as maintenance on behalf of her and her 3 children. She has further required 2 motor vehicles for use by her children and also to rennovate the house in which she lives, at his expense.

Though a case was heard in courts regarding the two of them prior to this ... the case was brought to a settlement. But this time she has filed a fresh case.

Three children have been born through this marriage of Sanath -- Sandra.

In this case, Sandra has claimed a compensation of Rs.800 million;and if it is granted, the judiciary reports that it would be the biggest sum of compensation so given in divorce cases in Sri Lanka. A date has still not been fixed for the hearing of the case.
