PRESIDENT REFUSES TO ACCEPT MALANI FONSEKA’S RESIGNATION LETTER:
It is reported that the letter of resignation handed over to the President by film actress Malani Fonseka has not been accepted by the President .In this regard the media spokesman for the President had informed the media about the non acceptance of her letter which was handed over to the Secretary General of the
Parliament Dhammika Dissanayake.

Film Actress Malani Fonseka resigns from her seat as Member of Parliament:
After the last general elections Film Actress Malani Fonseka was elected to the Parliament as a Member of Parliament from the National List of the UPFA government. It is learnt that she had handed over her letter of resignation to the Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dissanayake this morning. However it is learnt from the media that she had not stated any reason for her resignation.
The closest reason that is spoken about in political circles for her resignation is to allow the former Chief Minister of North Central Province Bertie Premalal Dissanayke to be given a seat in the Parliament as he was deprived of been re-elected as the Chief Minister once more after the recent Provincial Council elections as he had polled a fewer number of preferential votes than S.M.Ranjith, who was today sworn in as the Chief Minister of North Central Province by the President.
